Background

The Molonglo Juggernauts Australian Rules Football Club (‘MFC’) field sides in the AFL Canberra Community Men's Division 1, Division 2 and Community Women's Australian Football Leagues. All of our volunteer committee, coaches and players participate for the passion of the sport, for the footy club and to enjoy a welcoming, family orientated community footy club culture.

Our home ground is located at Stirling Oval in Stirling, ACT, shared by the Weston Creek Molonglo Wildcats Junior Football Club and the Weston Creek Molonglo Cricket Club. Since its establishment in the mid 1970’s, Stirling Oval has been (and remains) the primary and central sporting precinct in the Weston Creek Molonglo region for Australian Rules football and Cricket.

Our Men's and Women's sides represent the Weston Creek/Molonglo region in Canberra and offer a senior pathway for the Weston Creek Juniors to continue their AFL football careers when they finish their junior football.  We always welcome new and previous players regardless of gender, age or past experience to come along and play footy with the mighty Juggernauts.

Club History

Originally known as the Murrumbidgee Juggernauts (red and black colours), the club was formed in 1994, competing in what was then known as the Monaro League Amateur Competition. In 2014 the club changed its name to 'Molonglo Juggernauts' (GWS Giants colours) to better represent the greater region of the new Molonglo area in Canberra.

The original 1994 side was formed from a number of 'retired' footballers who saw the opportunity to extend their careers in a more family, community orientated club environment. In the process of developing a strong 'grass-roots' culture, the Juggernauts also became known as one of the toughest, hard hitting football sides in the competition.

After being competition runners up on a number of occasions, the club finally secured their first premiership in the 2005 season before being promoted to the higher grade in 2006. The juggernauts then fielded a second men's side, to cater for the influx of new players following the success the football club enjoyed in the early 2000's.

In 2014, the club took another major step in its history and fielded its first ever Women's side in the AFL Canberra Women's competition.

Built from a combination of first time footballers and past players, the Women's the side went on to secure the Division 2 Premiership in season 2016 and again in 2020! An outstanding feat in such a short time in the competition.

Today, MFC Women's side is an integral part of the Molonglo Football Club's future success and continues to build into a stronger team year on year.
